Marcus Rosenthal, Co-founder, CEO
Marcus founded Revolve in 2012 with Ilya with a shared vision for the transformation of consumer robotics. As CEO, he leads the company’s operations, marketing and business development strategy.
He has over 5 years Sales & Marketing experience in the consumer electronics industry and over 8 years of experience in management and developing partnerships. Prior to Revolve Robotics, Marcus was a founder of Artificial Muscle, Inc. (AMI) where he transitioned a new technology from the labs of SRI International to commercial products. AM was acquired by Bayer MaterialScience in 2010. Most recently at AMI, he served as the Director of Strategic Alliances where he worked closely with mobile phone, tablet, and gaming device makers to create new products that incorporate AMI’s ViviTouch technology. Marcus also worked with domestic and overseas contract manufacturers to scale-up ViviTouch to high volume production. Marcus holds a BS Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and has completed the Business for Science and Engineering Program.
Ilya Polyakov, Co-founder, CTO
Ilya’s 15+ years of experience in robotics and electro-mechanical systems development combine to create meeBot. As CTO, Ilya is the creative and technical drive behind the product and its development.
Prior to Revolve Robotics Ilya was the key system designer and product visionary at Artificial Muscle Inc where he developed new applications and refined the emerging technology of electro-active polymers with Marcus. Over his time there he has provided technical vision and accumulated over 28 patents, most notably, several for the first ever commercialized EAP product. His work widely varied from hand-building prototypes, leading product development and overseeing mass-production hand-off to Taiwan and Korea. Prior to Artificial Muscle, Ilya worked in industrial automation, designing and overseeing installs of custom robotic assembly and inspection systems. His robotics career started when he lead a team and built robots for the hit television show BattleBots the series. Rising to be ranked #2 in the weight class, the team was also the first to attract a mainstream beverage sponsor. Ilya has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from SUNY at Buffalo and has also successfully dabbled in graphic design, fabrication, embedded software and web design.
